This year, as Israel marks 77 years of independence, we do so with hearts that are both proud and heavy. Yom Ha’atzmaut is always a day of celebration—a tribute to the strength, resilience, and rebirth of a people who refused to vanish. But in 2025, it is also a day of remembrance, unity, and prayer.
In the shadow of war, with 59 hostages still held and many lives lost, we come to this day not with fireworks alone, but with tears, courage, and gratitude. We remember the fallen, hold the wounded in our prayers, and cling tighter than ever to our hope—for peace, for home, and for one another.
And yet, as always, Israel’s soul shines through her people. Through every olive tree and Shabbat table, through every soldier and every song, we feel the ancient heartbeat of a land that will not break. Today, we honor the dream that became a country. And we cook, because food is how we hold each other.
Because sharing a meal is also resistance—joy is defiance, and tradition is survival.
